    In FREE RENT A CAR the car rental services are charged daily, from the moment of delivery to drop-off. Our daily rate applies for partial day rental.
  3. Do I need an International Drivers License to be allowed to drive in Chile?
    Your valid Drivers license from your country of origin is accepted as a legal document in Chile. It is not necessary to have an International Driver’s License.
  4. Is it possible to leave a CASH deposti? No, we only accept credit card deposits as payment to guatantee your rental. At the moment we are unable to accept cash, cheques or travel checks.,
  5. Do the vehicles offered by  FREE RENT A CAR have insurance? Yes, all of car types available for rental include standard insurance and mandatory coverage for collisions, robbery and third party damages within Chile. A deductible equivalent to US$500 -plus sales tax - will be applied in the case there is damage to the vehicle.  All of the cars rented thourgh FREE RENT A CAR are covered with 24 hour road assitance in Chile.
  6. Which additional taxes are imposed in Chile? A Sales Tax of 19%, known as IVA will be applied to all of our services and charges. 
  7. As a foreigner am I obliged to pay IVA? The exemption for IVA -Sales Tax is only applicable to your hotel accomodations, therefore we are obliged by law to charge this tax.
  8. What is the minumum age for rentin a car in FREE RENT A CAR? We rent vehicles to persons of 23 years of age and older.  
  9. Do you have car delivery services outside your locations?  Yes, we do offer supplementary drop-off services given that is has been agreed by both parties. There are additional charges depending the required locations and time of delivery.
  10. Do you charge extra for Additional Drivers? No, there is no extra charge for additional drivers. The only requirement is that they must meet our car rental guidelines regarding the age, calid driver’s license and valid passport as established with the main driver.
  11. Is it possible to CANCEL A RESERVATION? Yes, it is possible to modify or cancel RESERVATIONS with the requirement of letting us know 48 hours in advance previous to the time of agreed car rental, with no exceptions, otherwise you will incur on a penalty charge equivalent to the daily rate of the vehicle. It is important to mention that any additional charges regarding permits and insurance to travel to Argentina are full responsability of the driver and will be charged against your deposit.
  12.  Can I pick up my rental car in one city and drop it off in another one?   Yes, it is possible with an additional charge of $180 clp for each km between the city of origin and the drop-off location.-this is will be the “drop-off” fee in your bill.
  13. Can I travel through Argentina in one of your vehicles? Yes, it is essential to previously notify us so that we can arrange for the special travel permit and additional insurance required to travel to Argentina. We require a minimum notification of 3 days to be able to arrange for the governement requirements.
  14. Can I return your vehicles in a country outisde Chile? Not at the moment. All of our car rental vehicles must be picked up and returned in CHILE by the same authorized person.
  15. Can I travel to Bolivia or Peru with a car rental in FREE RENT A CAR?  Not at the moment. Unfortunately there is no agreement between the car insurance companies in Chile with those in the mentioned countries.
